Helping NYC’s Chinatown reach herd immunity by providing bilingual vaccine appointment assistance to elderly residents and small business employees.
The COVID Foundation, in partnership with WGIRLS INC (501(c)3), Chinatown Partnership, Chinatown BID, Welcome to Chinatown, and East Side, secured vaccination appointments for over 600 Chinatown residents.
Over 50% of Chinatown residents are low income and do not even have access to Wi‑Fi. Language barriers, lack of internet access, and poor marketing initiatives are severely crippling Chinatown’s elderly’s ability to schedule vaccination appointments.
With your help, we organize bilingual volunteers on the ground who aid residents and small business employees in scheduling vaccine appointments — making Chinatown a safe place to visit again.
Our efforts have been cited by the New York Times as one of the reasons Asian Americans are now one of the most vaccinated demographics in NYC.
Four core areas where The COVID Foundation focuses its efforts.
We acquire and donate FDA‑approved PPE to the people that need it most, including frontline workers, nursing homes, first responders, local clinics, and hospitals across the United States.
The foundation designs auxiliary programs to provide care packages and educational materials to marginalized communities currently most vulnerable to COVID‑19.
The availability of vaccines is critical to the fight against COVID‑19. We provide free vaccine booking assistance to Chinatown’s elderly to help close the vaccine equity gap.
The foundation strives to be a central hub of discussion related to COVID‑19 and provides a platform for professionals to exchange knowledge through podcasts, webinars, and other media.
Previous initiatives that addressed urgent community needs.
COVID is still spreading in low‑income neighborhoods. Help us bring free testing to homeless shelters, public housing sites, and community centers in NYC’s hardest‑hit areas.
Spread rates in NYC jails are 39.1 infections per 1,000 people as opposed to NYC’s 5 infections per 1,000 rate. A $25 donation provides 20 people with a set of masks.

Our mission is to provide essential services to those who need it most and to continuously evolve to meet the demands of the ever‑changing COVID‑19 landscape. We achieve this by analyzing data to identify the most urgent need and engaging with local community organizations to help marginalized communities in the areas hit hardest by COVID‑19.
